This has been a difficult year for all of us. However, if you need to get away for a few days, Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast is open and we are still adhering to Covid-19 guidelines. We still require face masks be worn in public areas, are doing contactless check ins, and most importantly only booking at 60% of our occupancy so that we can offer appropriate social distancing in the house and at breakfast. Your health and safety remains our main concern.
Most of the Brandywine Valley attractions are open for the holidays and like us, they are practicing appropriate guidelines including limiting the number of tickets sold. Hamanassett still has tickets available for our guests which are not timed nor dated so even if you see Longwood Gardens shows sold out you can still go. Don’t miss their fabulous decorations.
Did you know you can drive through the holiday decorations at Herr’s Potato Chip factory? For 30 years they have been doing their Christmas decorating with over 600,000 lights from dusk to dawn. And it is free! Through January 1. Located in Nottingham, Pa. just 40 minutes south of Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast and 20 minutes south of Longwood Gardens. Well worth the drive, plus they will give you bags of samples and a coupon for 20% off in their gift shop.
Of course, Winterthur Country Estate just south of us in Delaware is always a delight during the holidays. Their Yuletide Tours are from 11 – 2 through January 3. And always fun is the train room at the Brandywine River Museum.
My little elf, Glenn, is still busy decorating all the mantles in the house. Be sure to read our blog about how to decorate a mantle in your house. If you don’t have a mantle, you can do the same thing but just lay the garland down the center of your dining room table. Each of our mantles is different but the Della Robia mantle in our dining room is my favorite.
