Amazing Things To Do In the Brandywine Valley

Why visit the Brandywine Valley?  Located just 30 minutes southwest of Philadelphia and 30 minutes north of Wilmington, De., we are convenient to Washington, DC, New York, and Baltimore, Md. We are still following all the safety protocols of the CDC to keep you, our staff, and us safe.  This includes only booking 75% of our rooms so we can adhere to social distancing in the public areas and requiring guests to wear masks in the public areas.  Restaurants and attractions in our area are also following safety protocols which means most attractions are requiring advance ticket purchases and limiting the number of people allowed. That is good news for you because it also means attractions will be less crowded.  As of September 21 restaurants will be allowed to make reservations for up to 50% occupancy.  What all this means to you is that it is more important than ever to plan ahead.

Looking for something Spooky this fall?  If you haven’t been to the Bates Motel hay ride at the Arasapha Farms just 15 minutes from Hamanassett, you are missing a great time.  It was rated the Most Entertaining Haunted Attraction in America by CNN Travel, USA Today and other media outlets.  Each year they add to and improve the experience so even if you have been before, you will still enjoy a new visit.  This year they have added a Psycho Path.

Tickets for the holiday lights show at Longwood Gardens go on sale October 5.  Did you know they have over 500,000 lights outside along with dancing fountains, and magical decorations in the conservatory.  The good news is when you stay at Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast you can purchase our tickets which are not dated nor timed which offers you more flexibility.  The main fountain garden performances are ongoing through November 1, 2020.  Longwood offers extended evening hours with 30 minute illuminated fountain performances through October 31.  They are open 6 days a week – closed on Tuesday.

Lots more to do in our area than just what is listed here.  We have Chanticleer Gardens, Tyler Arboretum,  and the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.  At Ridley Creek State Park you can visit the Colonial Plantation, a living history farm showing the period 1760 – 1790.  All of these attractions are within a 30 minute drive of Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast.

We have so many cute historic towns in the area where you can stroll and enjoy shopping.  These include West Chester, Media, and Kennett Square where you will find antique shops, art galleries, and trendy boutiques.   What about dining you ask?  Our guests are always surprised at how many really wonderful restaurants are within a 20 minute drive of our Brandywine Valley bed and breakfast.  And once again, Media, Pa. is hosting their outdoor dining and shopping experience.  This year there will be TWO nights (Wednesday and Thursday) when the streets are closed off so you can dine under the stars and stroll the streets and get in a little early Christmas shopping.

Now all you have to do is select your dates and then select your room at Hamanassett for your visit.  Remember, we are only booking at 75% of our capacity so our available rooms book up quickly.
