It is not too early to start planning on attending the 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show. The show begins March 1 and runs through March 10, 2019 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Where were you in the 60s? If you can remember you weren’t living the hippie life! The theme for this year’s show is Flower Power so all entrants must celebrate the power of flowers in our lives in their arrangements and landscapes. This is the 50th anniversary of Woodstock so don’t be surprised if you see a lot of peace signs, tie dyed cloths, and bell bottoms. Along with the theme of Flower Power goes peace, healing and hope which is sorely needed right now.
Besides viewing amazing arrangements and landscapes, you can attend floral design workshops and demonstrations, the Butterflies Live exhibit which is an immersive experience which features a native habitat and more than 1000 butterflies of 20 species. Have you ever fed a butterfly? In this exhibit you will be given the opportunity.
And this is really amazing. Want to bring your fur baby? On Bark Friday, you and your pooch are welcome. Canines are free but you must have a ticket. Be sure to read their page regarding requirements and rules about attending with your dog. And don’t forget that Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast is dog friendly in one room of the main house and both cottages.
This year the show will host the prestigious Florists Transworld Delivery World Cup which will be held the first day of the show with the winners being announced on March 3 at a special gala event. The competition is held every 4 to 6 years at different locations around the world. This is the first time since 1985 that the competition is being held in the United States. It will include entries from 30 countries. Past winners have been from Korea, Norway, and the United Kingdom.
Tickets are on sale now. More Info

During this time you will find most of the Brandywine Valley attractions are open and not nearly as crowded as during the summer and fall months.
