Food Festivals In and Around Philadelphia

If you are a Foodie have I got great news for you.  From now through October there will be over 40 food festivals in the Philadelphia area and all are within a thirty minute drive of Hamanassett Bed & Breakfast.  Philadelphia, West Chester, Manayunk, Phoenixville and other sites all have food festivals planned.  These will include music, bands, fashion shows, craft markets in addition to food, glorious food.  What kind you may be asking?  Philadelphia Magazine’s Wine Festival, a Taco Festival, food trucks offering empanadas, cannoli, soul food, Korean barbecue, are just some of the mouth watering treats to be offered.  For those of you who are health conscious, there will even be a vegan and whole-food-plant based life style festival.   Many of the festivals are family oriented so there is definitely something for everyone. Read on for just a few of the many food festivals on tap for you.  And speaking of on tap, there will be plenty of craft and local beers represented also.  READ MORE.  Hamanassett is only 30 minutes from Philadelphia.  You can either drive in or drive less than ten minutes to the Elwyn Train station and take Amtrak in.

Philly South 9th Street Italian Market Festival

Night Market Philadelphia is still in the planning stages with dates to be announced but on select dates top mobile food purveyors will be represented.  They usually do four per year and in addition to food offer live music and other entertainment.

Philly Burger Brawl June 3 will have over sixty chefs and restaurants represented.  At the same time there will be a taco competition and Cutthroat Cocktail competition.

Great Chefs Event benefits the fight against childhood cancer and is offered in conjunction with Alex’s Lemonade.  This event will be hosted by MarkVetri and will feature chefs from as far away as Montreal, San Francisco, Austin and New York City in addition to our talented local chefs.  This year they are encouraging you to bring your children by offering the event during the day and by offering free admission to anyone twelve and under.  But rest assure you will still enjoy decadent food.  The event will be held at the Urban Outfitters Headquarters  in the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

An Ice Cream Festival will be held at Reading Terminal Market.

The South Philly Sausage Festival will also include veggie options and local and regional breweries.

And no October would be complete without an OctoberFest.  This German block party will features over two thousand pounds of sausage as well as oompah music!

Every year in September Kennett Square hosts the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival.  Kennett Square is known as the Mushroom Capital of the world.   Part of the downtown area  is closed off and there are dozens of tents set up with food, crafts, and drinks.  This year it will be held September 8 and 9.

Even closer to us are several festivals at Linvilla Orchards.  First up July 7 from 8 am – 7 PM is the Blueberry Festival which includes a blueberry pie eating contest.  You may also pick your own blueberries.
