There is so much more to do in the Brandywine Valley than just visit the wonderful DuPont estates which everyone is familiar with.  Next time you come to visit Longwood Gardens, Winterthur the Brandywine River Museum,  or Nemours, make sure to take time to visit the Newlin Grist Mill in Glen Mills, Pa.  Located  only 2 miles from Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast, in addition to all the historic events it offers it is a great place to walk either alone or with your dog.  For the angler, they have trout fishing during the season.

Newlin Grist Mill has wonderful events throughout the year.  Just last week they had an archaeology festival which is an annual event.  Get ready for next year and get your Indiana Jones on with the opportunity to assist archaeologists with excavations.  This year they had Native American cooking demonstrations as well as Native American tools.  And admission was free!

Coming up on Saturday, October 7, 2017 is their Fall Harvest Festival.  This is but one of many festivals that take place in the Brandywine Valley during the fall season.  This event will feature over 2 dozen demonstrations of period  skills and trades including a blacksmith, cooking over an open hearth, and Native American skills.  There will also be Colonial music and you’ll have the opportunity to learn Colonial dances.  For the kids and adults that feel like kids there will be puppet shows, pumpkin painting, and hayrides.  Admission is free but parking is $5.00 per car.
