Love to dance? They’ve got you covered at Harrah’s Casino and Race Track with their Friday and Saturday night dance parties. To sweeten the pot the parking is free and it is only about 10 miles from us.
History buffs have not been forgotten. Patriot’s Day is November 26 at the Brandywine Battlefield in Chadds Ford. From 9 – 4 enjoy living history, musket drills, tours of houses, blacksmith demonstrations, and 18th century medical demonstrations are all a part of this event. Not into jazz? How about an evening of chamber music. Did you know chamber music was originally performed by amateur musicians in their homes, hence the use of a small group of instruments. Vivaldi and Beethoven are among the composers whose work will be performed at the Meagher Theatre of the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center at Neumann University beginning at 3 pm. Neumann University is less than 10 minutes from Hamanassett.
If you prefer watching dance to doing it yourself, how about attending a performance of the world loved Nutcracker performed by The Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center. Make this a holiday show tradition for your family. There will be featured professional soloists and many of the region’s best dancers. Performances are on November 18, 19, and 20. Finally, what holiday season is complete without a parade with Santa? You don’t need to head to New York or even Philadelphia to enjoy a dazzling holiday display. On Sunday, November 27, head to downtown Media, Pa. for musicians, dancing Mummers, and Santa. In addition stores will be open to help you start or finish your holiday shopping. Want to get rid of those extra helpings of dressing and pie? Join their family fun run and in the process help raise funds for the area’s food bank and Toys for Tots. Goodness, there will even be a costume party. This really is an event that has something for everyone no matter your age.
