If you’ve read Treasure Island, The Last of the Mohicans, or The Yearling you have seen the works of N.C. Wyeth. One of the most famous of American illustrators, Wyeth worked right here in Delaware County, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania to be exact. In addition to his famous illustrations, he spawned a family of talented artists including Andrew Wyeth who is famous for his Helga paintings and his paintings of the areas in the Brandywine Valley. Andrew’s son, Jamie Wyeth is also a talented local artist. All of the works by these 3 artists can be seen at the Brandywine River Museum which is only 5 1/2 miles from Hamanassett Bed & Breakfast. In addition you can tour the house and studio of N.C. Wyeth, the studio of Andrew Wyeth, and Kuerner Farm which was a major source of inspiration to Andrew Wyeth. During his lifetime Andrew Wyeth created almost 1000 works of art which depicted Karl Kuerner, his wife, Anna, and their farm and surroundings.
